George Hieu

We adopted Theodore Hieu as a baby in 1998 in Hoa Binh, Vietnam.  His ethnicity is one of the hilltribes, Dao. We adopted George Hieu as a baby in 2001 in Hanoi, Vietnam.  Both Theo and George were named Hieu by their birthfamilies, so we used that as their middle names.

This song was released on the radio while we were waiting to adopt Theo.  Although the song was not originally written about adoption, I found that the words really described what it was like to wait.  How I had to believe that everything that happens is meant to be and that we would be united with our son at the right time.

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf of good health and good times.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.

I hope you had the time of your life.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of you life.

-Green Day
